Summary: If you're involved in a debt lawsuit, knowing how to contact the opposing attorney can make all the different. SoloSuit can help you respond to a debt lawsuit and find attorney contact information in all 50 states.

Most attorneys don’t want you to know what we’re about to show you. It’s a secret that gives you power and leverage in litigation cases—especially in debt collection cases.

In debt collection cases, attorneys for the debt collector usually have the consumer’s contact information but the consumer doesn’t have the contact information of the attorney. The attorneys use this power asymmetry to their advantage.

Here we’ll show you how to find the email address and other contact information for an attorney. Use this to turn the tables. The steps are simple.

  1. Find your state in the list below.
  2. Click on the link to the attorney directory for your state.
  3. Enter the identifying information for your attorney. For most attorneys, it’s best to try a bar number or their last name.

You can find the bar number for the attorney on the Complaint or Summons, in the signature block at the end of the document, next to the attorney’s name. Here’s an example.

attorney signature

Many, but not all state bar associations require attorneys to keep email addresses and contact information in these directories. If your attorney doesn’t have an email address listed, you can try to find their website and discover one there.
